Friends With Flair

(CPS card is second card in this post.)
Great to have you stopping by on this Friday when we celebrate Unity...don't you just love seeing what everyone makes every week?!! For the whole list of those playing along today check out Unity's blog. You also have to remember to watch for the blinkie so that you can have a chance at those 25 Unity stamps!!
I used Unity Addict's Challenge #15 for my card this week. I also happened to need a guy birthday card for a party tonight. I wanted to use the candle stamp so when I decided to use Orange Peel Stickles on the flames I knew what my "pop" color would be.

Stuff I used:
Paper Studio cs, Paper Trunk & K & Co. pp, Memories black ink and Ranger butterscotch ink, Unity's It's Your Day and Sentiments O'Simple stamps, EK Adornaments cord and the Stickles.

This card is inspired by the botanicals post over at Moxie Fab World yesterday. I also used CPS sketch #181.
I was eager to break out my new stamps from Unity's August store kit and I used Oct. '09 KOTM, too.

Inks: SU Really Rust, ColorBox olive pastel, Palette burnt umber. the Paper Studio Black & Cream Script and the handmade paper I picked up awhile back was perfect for the botanical "feel" I was going for.

Hope you have a great weekend...

August will soon be gone and

we'll be on to September....

my very favorite month!!

Scripture Challenge on Forgive

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness". I John 1:9
This is my 4 x 6 on the verse I chose to focus on the word forgive that Patter gave us to study:
I heat embossed the frame; the houndstooth butterfly is also heat embossed onto thick plastic (Unity Addict's Challenge #14) and layered over another one stamped onto pink. The sketch is a rough take on Unity's sketch challenge #20. After doing these two challenges I realized I shouldn't be using them in conjunction with the Scripture challenge so I didn't enter this into either one of them. Thought it would be fun to share here anyway.
I have about 4 more word studies to catch up on so will be working on them soon.

Ellie's Dino Cake

Ellie is 4, she loves to look at cookbooks with pictures! This week she has been looking through my old cake decorating books and since she is in a dinosaur stage, she fell in love with the dino cake in this Wilton book. What is a gramma to do but have a cake decorating party. I should have taken pictures of her adding the powdered sugar, etc. But I didn't so you just get this process:

The cake was baked in my Pampered Chef glass measuring bowl. Put a glass in the middle, it bakes faster.

The head, tail and legs are just big piles of frosting!!!

She LOVED it!!

Check out UNITY'S BLOG for the entire list of Friend's With Flair....and I hope you already spotted the blinkie 'cause you only have one more stop on the hop!
