A Christmas Card for MMSC25

Yes, I was playing Christmas music today!! This is my take on the sketch over at Midnight Madness. I really like this sketch, just might be making more of these.
I used lots of the Paper Studio papers; textured cardstock, snowflakes on red, and green/red random dots. ColorBox olive pastel ink (the sentiment and paper really do match IRL!) and Ranger clear embossing powder. I think the stamp is from Hobby Lobby, I've had it for years. The brads are from my stash and the embellishments are s.e.i. Alpine Frost. I love that set! The cardstock sticker across the bottom is sparkly but that didn't show up so great.
Thanks for stopping by!

HHN09 God is Peace

This is my 6 x 6 page for the His Holy Name 09 Challenge. I went with a Christmas-y theme because I love the verse from Isaiah that we hear so often at Christmas. It is a prophecy about Christ and that He was to be the Prince of Peace when He came to earth. Not in a physical sense but in the spiritual sense that He brings peace to our lives when we trust in Him to forgive us of all our sins. Peace comes when we yield everything to Him, our will and all our struggles.
I used almost all s.e.i. goodies plus some Memento London Fog ink, some cord fromWalMart, Stickles and some jewel brads from my stash. I printed the verses out with PrintMaster.

Thanks card for CPS139 & SSCC10

Can I just say I am having a great day! I can't remember the last time I've had the time to make card after card. This one is for two challenges....one is from Stampin' Sisters in Christ to make a card showing our thanks to or for someone. This will be going to dear friends from church who have stood by us through thick and thin for many years.
The sketch is from Card Positioning Systems...always a good source for some layout inspiration!
Stuff: Stamps are from Unity's Sept. KOM, Ink: PrintMaster & Stampabilities Basil Leaf, paper is WausauPaper Crinkles & the Paper Studio cardstock, MM mat stack, & the paper rick rack is ColorBok jewel stack, the fashion cord is from WalMart, buttons from stash.

A Plum card for Moxie Fab's challenge

I was looking around over at Moxie Fab World and found this plum challenge! My oldest daughter loves purple and has been feeling a bit homesick so I knew right away which direction I would be flying with this one! She works in aviation....on small planes. When Unity gave us the sneak peeks of the October Kit of the Month I was super excited to see this airplane. I used ColorBok and 49th Street Market (baby blanket) papers, Unity Oct. KOM & Sending My Love stamps, Stampabilities walnut ink, Offray ribbon, and my Martha Stewart edge punch.

Quick & Simple Card

I have a dear friend who is having a birthday this week so this will be in the mail to her. I challenged myself to start out with just a white card and see what happens! I stamped the sun/cloud image with two colors and added Stickles to the yellow dots, grabbed a few embellishments and here you go!
Stamps are from Unity's Oct. KOM and the ink is ColorBox cyan & canary. The little bee applique and the flower brads are from my stash.

Birthday Wishes/EIC59/MMSC24

My sister is celebrating her birthday today so I got some inspiration from EIC59's The Little Red Door challenge. My sketch is from MMSC24 but I missed the cut off since I've been busy out in the field with harvest.
My sister and her family are here from Maryland so we will be celebrating her birthday at some point today. Thanks for stopping by, I'm organizing stamps and will be off to see the Unity blogs after this!
Ingredients for card include paper by s.e.i. & DejaViews; stamps: Unity April & Oct. KOMs & Love is in the Air sentiment; inks: ColorBox red & black; ribbons by s.e.i., Offray and stash. Photo corners from stash.

Perfect Match for UBBRO5

Perfect Match is my card for Unity's Bachelor challenge. The challenge is to use something that is a household item you wouldn't regularly use on a card. I grabbed the book of matches off my counter yesterday and decided to go with this for a 50th anniversary card I needed to make. I scored two lines around the edges of the card, hard to see here. Also used two matchbooks, two paperclips, two eyelets, and two hearts to "reinforce" the idea of two people being a "perfect match"!

Here is a close up of the matchbooks. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
The ingredients follow....paper: WausauPaper blue ribbon; Stamps: Unity June & Sept. KOMs & Frame this Alpha; Ink: ColorBox scarlett & royal blue; accessories: DiVOGA paperclips, Offray ribbon, MM eyelets, multi-colored cord is from my stash.

...and a little bit more....

Yep, woke up to another inch of snow this morning. It warmed up to about 36 today but at least the snow melted off the soybeans. I've been super busy making and canning salsa. We had to quickly pick all the tomatoes and apples before it froze the other day. This afternoon dh and I cut up apples in order to make lots of sauce tomorrow. I'll get back to card making one of these days.

WCMD & Pastor Appreciation Month

I made this card for our interim pastor and his wife since October is Pastor Appreciation Month. This is for WCMD09I Scor-Pal's sketch challenge and WCMD09J Gina K. Designs color challenge (chocolate, pumpkin and vanilla) at SCS. I won a Scor-Pal from the Etsy-Inspired birthday party and it was fun to be able to use it with the tutorial they posted!!
Here are the details. Paper: the Paper Studio textured cardstock & Maple Leaves; Stamps: Unity Sept. KOM; Ink: Stampabilities walnut, Basic Grey brads, cord from stash.

Saturday, October 3, 2009

I made this card with the Unity Bachelor challenge in mind, but I'm not sure I like it all that much so haven't decided whether to enter this one or make another one using plaid and polka dots. Whatever....will decide later...too much fun to have right now to bother with decisions!!

Details: Stamps from Unity May & June KOMs; Paper: WausauPaper Crinkles cardstock, Daisy D's American Plaid, MM mat stack; Ink: ColorBox royal blue, Millenium pure blue marker; MM eyelets, cord from stash.

This is my card for the challenge over at SCS, WCMD09A. The challenge from Unity Stamp Co. is to make a card with a quote as the focal point.

I used Unity's May & June KOMs. I also used a stamp that I got from Unity along with my last kit, I don't know the name of it. I stamped off and used it over the sentiment as well as along the side of the card. Paper: s.e.i. grey, MME Happy Stripes, WausauPaper Crinkles cardstock; Ink: Memento London Fog; s.e.i. brads and rick rack from my stash.

Friday Friends with Flair! That's YOU!

Hope you have had a great week and are enjoying the Unity Friends with Flair Friday sights today. I have a couple cards to share. The first one I cased from Jen's Flair blog last week, I love her card! I made it for my sil's birthday and I used the color combo from SPCC. I just went to get the link and found out I WON the challenge! (Thanks for the idea, Jen!) ((Now I just checked Unity's blog and JEN won the Bachelor challenge with her card!!))
Here are the details. Stamps: Unity September KOM; Paper: Basic Grey Lemonade, WausauPaper Lunar Blue; Ink: ColorBox cyan & black; Basic Grey buttons, Offray ribbon, Stickles. I gathered the ribbon and then stapled the ends down.

This second card represents something pretty special (although the picture really stinks). My parents celebrated their 58th anniversary on Sunday!! Wow, THAT is a long time!!
I used the mojomonday.com sketch #104. Stamps: Unity Sept. KOM (awesome set!); Paper: MME Simply Delightful; Ink: ColorBox olive pastel, Stampabilities walnut; Accessories: Basic Grey brads & ribbon, EK Success 3-D Dots.
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the weekend! Hope all is well
with you and that the sun is shining wherever you are!
