05.31.13 FWF

Several projects to link up to
Unity's FWF today.  I've had time
to PLAY in my studio since we've
had lots of rain this past week.
So, so thankful after 2 really
dry years here!
Here is my latest art journal
page for the Bible Verse
Challenge at SCS.  You can see
some of the process on my
earlier post HERE.

I love to use Unity stamps on my
mixed media backgrounds
Next up is the card I made for dgs's
3rd birthday. Stamps are from
It's Your Day set & I used the May/June sketch
From the Unity challenge.

Papers are all from Echo Park's Little Boy collection.

This card uses a grab bag butterfly
and the SHE Script stamp (I love it!).
I cut the flower from a paint chip left over
from a project I did at church.
Love how they hold their shape!

I cased this from Kristina Werner's
blog, check it out HERE. She showed how
to do a partial embossing technique.  I had
these elements laying on my table for awhile,
added a few pearls & the vintage buttons.

Have a great weekend!!

One down, one to go...Father's Day

I was super excited to win one
of Kristina Werner's giveaway
boxes...only had to pay the
postage...here is a picture
of all the goodies!
I got right to work with the
For the Record collection and made
a Father's Day card for my
dad.  He has taken pictures
all his life. They have album after
album recording all the memories
of our family's life.
Linking this to Crafting By Designs'
Anything Goes challenge this week.
This will fit in a
business size envelope.

Encourage Art Journal Pages

Thought I'd let you in on
a bit of the process of the
page I've been working on
the last few days.  This
journal is my project for the
Verse Challenge at SCS.

And I'm linking up to
Word Art Wednesday
for their 81st challenge and
to Art Journal Everyday
at Balzer Designs.

I am using an 8.5 x 11
sketchbook....I glue a couple
pages together to make them stronger.
I started with gesso and craft paint
diluted with water. Used a round
sponge to add the turquoise circles.
Stamped music on tissue paper
and ModPodged it down.

I added pink Thickers, spelling
"sing" but using random letters
on other parts of the page.  I put
pieces of cheesecloth over the
letters that don't spell anything.
I cut Tattered Florals from
old book paper and then added more
paint here and there.

I used random Unity Stamp Co.
stamps with StazOn black ink.
Here is a close up with the Prima
flowers and leaves cut on my
Silhouette added. I used a black
Sharpie to color the word "sing".

I printed the verse out on my
computer, using a free
"Old Typewriter" font I found online.
And here is the finished page:

05.24.13 FWF & CBD Challenge

Welcome to FWF Friday!
Check out the hop details on
the Unity blog! Can you believe
it is Memorial Day weekend?!
DH & I have been crazy busy
getting the crop in, hope to be
done by tonight.

Here is a card I made for the
Mix-Ability challenge #16 at
SCS called Glitter Under Glass.
I used Stickles and then a coat
of Glossy Accents on the hearts.

Our dgd has a teddy bear
named Pookie. Love this
Phyllis Harris stamp!

And here is my take on
the current Unity sketch.
I had made a similar card last
week and need another grad card.

If you remember, I had tried
something called Bokeh Effect
but forgot to sponge the
background.  So this week,
I think I got it right!

Also linking this up to the
at Crafting By Designs.

Thanks for stopping by
and have a great holiday weekend!

FWF & Winner from MM Blog Hop!

Welcome to FWF! Check out the
UNITY BLOG for the hop details
And all the new releases and sales.

I chose a winner from the
Mixed Media Art Journal Hop.
Laura Turcotte...please contact me
with your mailing info!!

Thought I'd throw another card
into the Unity Challenge ring this week.

I combined their sketch with the Try a New Technique
at SCS.  Have you ever heard of the Bokeh Effect?
I guess it is another name for stamping off.
I did forget a step, though, I was supposed to
lightly sponge the background!

Here is the card I made, needed
a grad card for Saturday.  The stamped
panel is popped up, just can't tell in the pic.
This would be an easy design to reproduce
quickly if you needed a bunch of cards.

Sentiment is from To the Moon & Back KOTM
The grad hat stamp is from a FWF win. OA Farmhouse
twine, stash button. Memories black ink &
Stampabilities red ink.

We had a great week, DH & I
got the corn planted and we had a nice
Rain on it last night!
Thanks for stopping by & have
A great weekend!

CAS-ual Challenge & Unity Card Sketch

Thought I'd give this
Bingo challenge at
CAS-ual Fridays a shot today.
They are celebrating their 2nd birthday
And their 100th challenge!
This also works for the current
Unity card sketch challenge HERE.

I chose polka-dots, kraft,
and punches or dies from the CAS-ual
Bingo chart.

I used molding paste and a TCW stencil
to make my background dots.
The die is TH Tattered Florals.
I stamped a Unity script stamp
with StazOn ink as the flower is cut from a paint
chip from a painting project I did last week.

I added another Unity stamp for the
sentiment, punched a tiny heart and
topped it with glossy accents.
A thin piece of pp and some twine
to attach my flower finished it off.

Mixed Media Blog Hop & FWF

Welcome to a
double delight, Unity's
FWF and Maria's Mixed Media
Art Journal Blog Hop!

You should have arrived from
the wonderfully talented Angeline.
She happens to have been
Unity's GUI girl this week!
Her blog is Scrappy Scrappy.

I've got two art journal spreads to
share with you today.  The first one
uses a stamping technique I learned
last November when I took part in the
Attitude of Gratitude art journal challenge

I stamped the black leaves
around the edges of my pages
over the Dylusions sprays
and then doodled around them
with my white pen.

(You can go to THIS POST
to see pictures of the
process & products used
on these pages.)

(This also fits Mix-Ability
 #13, Mr. Squiggle, to doodle.)

My second set of pages was
begun with a net potato bag!
You can see the texture of it
WAAAAYYY in the background.

(You can go to THIS POST
 for all the how-to details.)

I used tons of Unity stamps,
as usual!! Cosmo Cricket Material Girl
& Bella Blvd Lovey Dovery papers.

Here is the order of Maria's hop
just in case you get lost or want
to start at the beginning....rumor has
it there are prizes for comments

    Art Journaling Fun!!

    Here is a walk through
     of how I made my
    art journal pages.

    I started out with this
    red, net potato bag. I
Mod Podge'd it to my page
    and then added molding paste
    around the edges.

    I painted over it
    all with gesso.

Next I scraped Calypso Blue craft paint over
it with an old gift card and then added
torn pattern pieces with more MP.

I misted some thinned craft paint onto
my pages, green, pink & off white.

    Added some Vintage Photo DI

and some black StazOn & Broken
    China DI around the edges.

    Then I stamped using Unity
    stamps with black StazOn.
    Throughout All Generations,
Our House Itty Bitty, Chicken Wire,
Brave Girl Boots, Roots & Wings.
    Ippity Because of You,
    We R Family.

White craft paint went on with bubble wrap.
I used  Cosmo Cricket Material Girl &
    Bella Blvd Lovey Dovey papers
    for my embellishments.

The tag on the left-hand page
was coffee dyed and pulled through
misted Broken China DI, the one on the right
was colored with misted FC Pitt pen and
Broken China DI. I used Vintage Photo to
distress everything & black Pitt pen to edge things.
I did a little outlining & doodling with a Sharpie.

    1981 is the year DH  & I
got married so I put that on
    the EST. banner.  The pink
heart was cut from old book paper,
painted with my craft paint spray
    and then stamped and DI'd.

    Thanks for looking!

    Mix-Ability #13, Mr. Squiggle

    I enjoy the Mix-Ability Challenge
at SCS. Mixed Media is a lot of fun!
Here is the process I went through
    to create these pages.

    I started in this journal.
and Mod Podged the first page
to the cover to give it more strength.
Then I continued to stick two pages
    together through out the book.

I bought my first Dylusions sprays
and came up with this after letting
it run and then rolling paper towel over it.
    Pure Sunshine & Postbox Red

I added the stars with Golden molding paste
and stamped this Hero Arts gate stamp.
    The molding paste absorbs some
of the color so later I went over
    them with some
     Picket Fence Distress Stain.

I used a die cut and the same Distress Stain
to make an area to stamp my Prima verse.
Using the negative dies for this
    and the stars was inspired
    by the Mix-Ability Challenge #11,
    Frame It, at SCS.

Next I stamped the Inkadinkado leaves
around the edges with black StazOn
    and doodled along them
with my white Signo pen and then
    added a bunch of K & Co rub-ons.
Vintage Photo DI around the edges.

I had this Scenic Route chipboard bird
laying on my desk for ages so popped
him on there. He was painted with Distress
Crackle paint and blue DI.  I added
the Kaisercraft pearls for his wing and also placed
    some in with the stars.

I put the Presto Stik BE GLAD letters on and
then thought my gate looked rather
unattached! I traced around a bone
folder, added gesso and then Crackle
Paint.  I doodled with a Sharpie around
the stars, the scalloped circle and the fence
    pickets to finish things off.

I'll be linking this to last Friday's
Hop over there to see what the
    challenge is for this week!

Thanks for stopping by for a closer
    look at my pages!
