since my SCS January Divine Design
Bible Verse Challenge page and was
really feeling like I didn't know
where to start again.
The other day I had the mesh
bag from some oranges in
my hand and thought how cool
that would look as texture on a
page. Odd where inspiration
comes from, isn't it?!
I snipped a couple
pieces, making sure they didn't
have straight edges, and
applied some molding paste
randomly to add them to
my previously gesso'd 9 x 12 page.
After it dried, I began adding color.
I spritzed it with Stream ColorWash,
added some orange glaze Faber Castell
Big Pitt pen to the corners and
went over the whole page with
water in my brush.
Next I added a butterfly
with my homemade
acrylic paint/water spray through
a Mini Butterfly stencil.
I decided I wanted the
butterfly darker so used a stencil
brush this time with the original paint.
I stamped the Unity Donna Poppy
with StazOn black ink &
painted it with acrylic paint
from Ace Hardware. Drew the lines
back on here and there and
added some of the lighter paint
for some highlights.
I used some off white craft paint
to add another butterfly and
also put some around the poppies
with my finger. I smeared
brown (the name is actually
caput mortuum..really?!
I think that means dead!
Yeah, looked it up, dead head,
worthless residue. You learned it here! :)
and leaf green Pitt pen around
the edges and green on the stems.
Chicken Wire, SHEScript, Angie Girl, dots from a KOTM
You can see the Unity stamps
I added with StazOn ink
and then I inked a little around
the edges, too.
I wanted the poppies to be a
little more red so I went over them
with my pink carmine Pitt pen.
I printed the words out on my
computer and used Wild Honey
DI to color them, glued them down
with matte ModPodge.
