For my sister the teacher

Another card for the Moxie Fab Fun with Floss challenge. I made a grid of floss, inked it and used it for the background. (It was also going to be for the Tuesday Trigger, but I missed the cut off!)
This card will soon be on it's way to my sister who teaches in Ontario, Canada, and recently won the 2010 Norah Morgan Memorial Award. "The award celebrates the commitment and achievements of elementary school teachers who have made a strong contribution to the arts in Niagara area schools. Lakeview Principal Andrea Jack says, “Sharon has a passion for the arts that inspires the entire school. She models her love of art everyday and finds ways to help students make connections between the arts, literacy and social studies.” (DSBN website)
So here is a little "shout out" to my big sister, of whom I am very proud! (If she reads this, I better have all my grammar correct!!)
Stamps: Unity Sept. & Dec. KOM, Prima flower, paper, ribbon, button, bead from stash. Martha Stewart edge punch, machine stitching, paper-piecing.

Frazzled?!! (Warning: this card may make you feel worse!)

Well...I haven't made a card like this before! I used sketch #42 from MMSC. I also used DMC floss so will enter this in Moxie Fab's Fun with Floss challenge. I added 2 shades of purple floss for her hair and made a grid with floss which I inked up to make the background.
Part of my inspiration came from the oddest place. I've had this stamp for awhile and just never felt like using it. But the other day I was working on a banner for church and in order to make a tassle at the end of the cording I pulled the outer fibers off and they made these darling brown curls that reminded me of this stamp. Lots of colors, layering, stitching, roughing edges, anything I could do to make it FEEL frazzled.
Paper: Cosmo Cricket Snorkel line, the Paper Studio kraft cs, houndstooth & graph paper from stash
Stamps: Unity's Sept.09 & Feb.10 KOM
Ink: Palette burnt umber
Accessories: Buttons, Basic Grey; floss, DMC; machine stitching, paper-piecing

Oh, Happy Day!! 2 Cards for Unity's FWF!!

Welcome to Unity's Friends With Flair Friday! Check out the whole list of everyone playing along HERE on Unity's fabulousy adorable new blog!
I was super excited to see my February KOM in the mailbox the other day, even if the package was frozen down! I pried the envelope loose, went right in the house and whipped up this card. LOVE the sentiments in this set! They are so easy to use!
I used sketch #154 from Card Positioning Systems
the Paper Studio kraft paper and scraps, ribbon from my stash and the Palette burnt umber ink. Did some paper-piecing on the rainbow. The "happy day" sentiment is from the August'09 KOM.
Please scroll down for my second card:

2nd Card--Songbirds!

Made another card with the wonderful February KOM! This one is for a couple challenges: ColourQ Challenge #20, (blue, red, yellow, turquiose and white) and Moxie Fab World's challenge to use embroidery floss. I started with sketch 46 from 2 Sketches 4 You, it really didn't turn out anything like the actual sketch!!
I used WausauPaper royal blue, Paper Studio's yellow w/ white polka dots, and scraps, ribbon and a button from my stash. I braided the DMC floss, used a Martha Stewart edge punch and did lots of paper-piecing.
Enjoy the rest of the FWF HOP and don't forget to watch for the blinkie!! You could win marvelous stamps from Unity! Now hop on over to Robyn's blog to see her beautiful card that won last week's FWF challenge and is featured on Unity's blog today!

HOPE2010 & MMSC41

This card will be for my mom for Mother's Day. This verse has always been special to my parents. Although the context of it is talking about "spiritual children", my parents have claimed this verse since all 4 of us siblings are Christians.
I made this card for the HOPE2010 Challenge on SCS and used sketch #41 from MMSC.
The cardstock is DCWV and the rest of the paper is from my stash as are the buttons and ribbon. The verse was designed on PrintMaster and the ink is ColorBox Royal Blue and Black. The flower stamp is from Unity's Bevy of Butterflies set and they are embossed with Ranger clear embossing powder.

Happy Valentine's Day

Thought I'd share the bouquet that my dh bought for me...what a guy!!!

Abide for Scripture Challenge 2

This 4 x 6 page is for the Scripture Challenge word "Abide". I love this verse and went with a vine theme on my page. The paper is all from my stash, as is the yarn and rick rack. I used a Unity vine stamp, PrintMaster for the verse and American Craft thickers. The sketch is from Christian Paper Crafts ST43

A Valentine Book

Happy Valentine's Day!!
I made this booklet for my daughter last year but I didn't have a blog then so thought I'd share it with you today. I'm not listing the "recipe" but if you have any questions let me know and I'll try to figure out what I used!

Friends With Flair Friday

Welcome back to Unity's FWF...can you believe how the weeks are flying by?! I made this for friends from church whose mom passed away. I used the challenge from clean & simple's FTL77. Love the sketch!
I used the branch from Unity's Jan. 10 KOM, sentiment is from Bevy of Butterflies, the Paper Studio's kraft cardstock, Old Green Paint pp, Palette burnt umber ink, and the Martha Stewart edge punch. I lightly inked the burlap and machine stitched on it. I paper-pieced the flowers with some yummy orange paper I inherited and popped them up a bit, added some Stickles just for some spark! The button, ribbon, burlap and twine are all from my stash.
There you go....hope you are enjoying the hop and don't forget to watch for the blinkie and give everyone along the way some sweet comments! The list of everyone playing along is on Unity's blog. (Scroll down if you want to see another Unity creation I made earlier this week.) And now hop on over to Kim's blog to check out her beautiful Valentine HERE!!

Thinking of You

Made this for sketch #15 over at KL Stampin' and Scrappin' Blog. Used 49th St. Market Baby Blanket paper and the Paper Studio kraft cs. I think the green is from MM, offray ribbon and buttons from my stash. The stamps are both from Unity Stamp Co.

I LOVE UNITY STAMPS!! FWF Today!

Welcome to Unity's Friends With Flair blog hop! I know that Unity is a great stamp company, but every time a new month's kit comes out I am amazed at the creativity!! Check out the February KOM!
The list of people participating in today's hop are listed on Unity's blog HERE. And don't forget to watch for the blinkie so you can have a chance at some free Unity!!
Seems like I've been making more sympathy cards than anything else lately. My almost 90-year old aunt passed away Wednesday morning so I made this first card for my parents. LOVE-LOVE-LOVE the Bevy of Butterflies set! Seems like I grab that set A LOT! I've been seeing burlap on projects here and there so dug in my sewing stash. I used sketch FTL76 from Clean & Simple. Isn't it a great sketch? I started with a bigger card but then decided I liked the way the square part filled up most of the area so cut the cardstock (the Paper Studio) in half.
This tag went on the gift we gave to friends from church who got married. Used two stamps from the Something Within set, embossed the cross and then printed out their names and wedding date with PrintMaster. The paper is from a MM Kid's Collection.
Happy first February Friends With Flair Friday
and have a great, creative weekend!

Scrapin' on a Large Scale!

Here is the project I've been working on. I started it some time ago and just couldn't seem to get at it again until the last week or so. It is roughly 5' x 5'. I really like making banners...just great big cards! I plan to get some dark brown cord to hang down the sides from the curtain rod. This tree is the logo of the Evangelical Free Church of America.
